As our first finance hire, you’ll be the architect of our financial foundation – owning strategy, operations, and cross-functional execution. You’ll define our KPIs, build the reporting cadence to track them, and drive clarity across the business. You’ll also lead procurement, inventory, and supply chain finance—bringing structure to the complexity as we scale. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex challenges, and wants to build finance from the ground up.

What You Will Do

Finance & Strategy

Lead financial planning, forecasting, and analysis to guide strategic decision-making.
Build and own financial models to assess growth opportunities and optimize unit economics.
Own budgeting, cash flow management, and capital allocation with a focus on ROI and runway efficiency.
Craft investor updates, board materials, and fundraising narratives that translate metrics into clear, actionable insights.
Design and implement scalable financial systems, controls, and reporting to support rapid growth and maintain compliance.
Proactively surface cost-saving opportunities and track spend to improve runway.

KPIs & Metrics

Define and own the core financial and operational metrics that drive business performance.
Build and maintain dashboards to provide real-time visibility into company health.
Partner with leadership to set targets, monitor progress, and shape strategic priorities.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

Prepare accurate and timely financial reports – balance sheet, P&L, and cash flow – to drive internal decision-making and investor confidence.
Own financial controls and ensure compliance across audits, tax filings, and reporting standards.
Navigate complex regulatory environments, unlocking value through government incentives, grants, and tax credits.

Invoicing, Procurement & Supply Chain

Own end-to-end billing and payments.
Manage inventory, vendor negotiations, and supply chain operations hands-on while designing systems to scale with growth.
Drive cost discipline and operational efficiency across procurement and logistics.

Operations & Business Support

Work cross-functionally to optimize revenue operations, pricing, and unit economics.
Partner with sales, customer success, and product teams to align financial strategy with growth priorities and GTM execution.
Support fundraising efforts, including financial modeling, projections, and building market size models to inform investor conversations and growth strategy.

Investor Relations

Support investor reporting and communications, providing updates on performance against financial and strategic goals.
Build trust with current and prospective investors through transparent and accurate financial communications.

Team Management & Growth

Operate as a player-coach—setting the standard, leading by example, and laying the groundwork for a high-performing finance team as we grow.
Ensure the broader team understands how we’re tracking towards our key KPIs and what needs attention to hit our goals.

About You

Experience in finance at a high-growth startup, VC fund, consulting (with finance exposure), investment banking, or other finance-related roles
Strong analytical and modeling skills—able to turn data into actionable insights
Experience with invoicing, procurement processes, inventory management, vendor negotiations, or supply chain operations
Comfortable being a team of one, taking ownership of critical finance and operations functions, while having the vision to scale the function over time
Startup experience
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial statements, and cash flow management.
Understands what early stage investors care about, can craft the narrative, and back it up with clean data.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with financial software (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks, Carta, Ramp, or similar).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
Passionate about cleantech, industrial innovation, or sustainability (a plus!)

Our Interview Process

1. Phone screen with Laminar Head of Ops or Recruiter (15-20 minutes)

2. Intro call with Hiring Manager (30 minutes)

3. On-site interview, including short tour of GTL, overview of tech, and interview/presentation with the Hiring Manager and a few team members. Depending on the role, a skills exercise that should take no longer than an hour to prep, would be sent ahead of time. We record your skills exercise to share with any team members who could not join the interview and/or with Founder's ahead of their Founder's Interview. If you are not local, we can conduct this virtually.

4. Finalists for Full-Time positions will have a Founder’s Interview in-person

Two professional references are requested, ideally one from your current organization and one who served as your Manager

If an Offer Letter is extended, a Background check is conducted
